Chisholm Trail Tollway/Southwest Parkway (SH 121) Design-Build Project, Section 6, NTTA (TxDOT North Region), Texas – As part of the Granite-Dannenbaum Engineering Corporation Design-Build Team, our firm performed traffic studies, traffic signal design and illumination design services for Chisholm Trail Tollway/ Southwest Parkway (SH 121) Section 6 between FM 1187 and US 67 in Tarrant and Johnson Counties, Texas.
The ultimate configuration of this toll facility comprises of four general purpose main lanes (two lanes in each direction with slip ramps at several grade separated cross street intersections). A concrete traffic barrier (CTB) separated “Super 2” roadway configuration is to be built on the Northbound side of the ultimate configuration in this project that consists of two-lane to three-lane toll road facilities including passing lanes. The project consists of a total of 28 entrance and exit ramps including 12 toll ramps with toll gantries and one main lane gantry. There are 8 intersections which require underpass lights. The total length of the project is approximately 13.1 miles. The design provided for “Safety Lighting” including the following:
- Gore area lighting for exit and entrance ramps.
- Toll Ramp lighting (Column-Up lighting only)
- Intersection lighting at ramp terminals.
- Under Bridge/Underpass lighting at ramp intersections within the project limits.
Traffic Signal & ITS WA Contract, City of Houston – As part of the Siemens team, our firm designed 10 traffic signals for the City of Houston namely; Jackson at Jefferson, Jackson at Pease, Hamilton at Pease, Hamilton at Leeland/Bell, Chartres at Leeland, Chartres at Gray, 11th at Shepherd, 24th at Shepherd, 24th at Durham, and El Dorado at Glenwest. Improvements include flag-mount and mast-arm traffic signals, fiber optic and 9/C cable interconnects, count-down pedestrian signals, audible wheelchair ramps, signing and striping. The contract also consists of providing construction support. Construction on all ten signals is now complete and the signals are fully operational.
Traffic Signal Installation and Median Improvements, Kingsland Boulevard at Park Grove, Harris County, PCT 3, Texas – As a prime consultant to Harris County, our firm recently completed the design of a permanent traffic signal at Kingsland and Parkgrove (span-wire configuration with loop detection, actuated pedestrian signals, wheel chair ramps etc.) as well as the reconstruction design of the median along Kingsland to include an extended dual left-turn lane at Mason Road, closure of a full median opening, relocating a commercial driveway and providing left-turn only channelized access to this driveway from Kingsland. Services also included site-specific traffic control plans, contract and construction support. This project is now complete and fully operational.
